Watermakers for essential drinking water supply in American Samoa
In an island context where access to fresh water is a constant challenge, a large-scale project was recently implemented to strengthen the production of drinking water in American Samoa, a U.S. territory located in Oceania. Our company contributed to this project by supplying six watermakers designed to transform seawater into high-quality drinking water. We are proud to take on this ambitious challenge, which demonstrates the recognition of our equipment, our ability to meet tight deadlines, and the quality of the documentation we provide.
A vital need for an island territory
American Samoa’s geographical configuration severely limits its natural freshwater resources. The reserves are often minimal and highly vulnerable to climatic or technical hazards. In this context, in the event of shortages or issues with existing water networks, it is essential to be able to deploy a backup solution that can take over without delay to ensure the supply of water to the population and critical infrastructure.
The role of our six watermakers
The six units delivered have been designed to meet these specific challenges:
- A production capacity of up to 6 x 1,250 m³/day, for a total of 7,500 m³ of drinking water per day, ensuring maximum flexibility according to needs and emergency situations.
- A modular and autonomous design, allowing production to continue even during servicing or maintenance of one or more units.
- Water quality that meets international standards, with a salt content reduced to less than 300 mg/L and a pH between 6.5 and 8, ensuring water safe for human consumption.
These units thus help secure the water supply, support existing capacities, and ensure service continuity under all circumstances.
Recognized expertise serving remote territories
This is not a first for our company. Accustomed to meeting the specific needs of islands and remote territories, we have already helped equip regions as distant as French Polynesia, and even territories closer to us, such as the island of Groix. Each project is an opportunity to adapt our solutions to local constraints: marine environment, complex logistical access, strict water quality requirements, and long-term reliability.
A sustainable contribution
In addition to supplying the equipment, technical support is planned to ensure commissioning, training of local teams, and long-term assistance. These installations strengthen the water resilience of American Samoa, providing a concrete and lasting response to the water-related challenges of this island territory.
